The Finest Videos We Can Find!!! Video Treasures
Available Only from the USMA!
The most popular videos ever
produced are the two world famous sets of videos “The 65 Throws of
Kodokan Judo” and the “Counters of Kodokan Judo,” created by O-Sensei
at the NJI with the National Judo Team. Several other single videos
are in great demand: “The Techniques of Kyuzo Mifune” (one of the
original 10th Degrees in Judo), the video of the great
National Judo Champion Gene LeBell fighting the top ranked boxer Milo
Savage, and the special music and fighting video, “The Savage
Ballet.” We’ve dug into the files and found all of them for you.
The 65 Throws of Kodokan Judo.
Over 30,000 copies of this set of videos, which O-Sensei Porter made
at the NJI in the mid 1980s, have been produced! It is the most
complete coverage of all the throws of Judo in existence. There are
five videos in this set, each about an hour long.
The Counters of Kodokan Judo.
This is a masterpiece set made by O-Sensei Porter, who has produced
over 1,000 national and international medalists in Judo, including
Katie Donahoo, who placed in the top six in both the World and Olympic
Games and was a Pan American Gold Medalist, four times National
Collegiate Champion and many times junior and senior National
Champion. This set was originally eight videos, but we have condensed
it on five two hour digital masters, so the set is now five videos.
It is an incredible achievement in instructional excellence, a must
for every Martial Arts library.
Mifune’s Techniques, including
Counters To the Nage No Kata. This is a
very old (made at least 50 years ago) black and white16 mm film
transferred to video. The quality is flickering and scratchy, but the
techniques are magnificent. Mifune was one of the original six 10th
degrees promoted by Jigoro Kano, the founder of Judo. He was noted as
one of the finest technicians who ever lived. This is a historical
masterpiece. You’ll learn a lot from it.
Gene LeBell Fighting Milo
Savage. About 45 years ago the boxers said
no Judo fighter could last one round with a good boxer. They offered
a purse to anyone who would try. The 1954 and 1955 National Judo
Grand Champion Gene LeBell (a valued member of our USMA) agreed to
fight a top ranked boxer, Milo Savage. Gene was about 170 then.
Savage never had a chance. Gene threw him but got no score from the
referee, so he choked him out cold in a few rounds. Now days we have
the Ultimate Challenge, but 45 years ago the Martial Arts had never
been proven superior to boxing. Gene LeBell, now a member of the
Board of the USMA and an internationally famous Martial Artist, put
his courage on the line that day in Utah when he faced and beat Milo
Savage. This is an historic video worth having.
The Savage Ballet.
Never before have classical music and world class fighting been put
together in this way. This video will be a source of inspiration and
instruction to you for many years. It is impossible to tire of it.
It was produced by George Weers from his vast files of world class
competition Judo videos.
